Purpose of Position
 
The Accountant I role is responsible to complete the accounting tasks which support cash forecasting and fixed asset accounting.  Additional responsibilities include accounting projects and assigned tasks as needed by the Accounting Manager or Director of Financial Operations.
 


Responsibilities

Primary or Key Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and complete responsibilities accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Prepare detailed analysis of all bank account activity to summarize daily cash flow data and complete an analysis of daily cash flow trends.  Investigate, identify and report cash flow forecast variances. Research cash flow trends and provide analysis to aid the development and maintenance of daily cash flow forecasting.  
  • Responsible for daily and monthly accounting tasks to create and maintain fixed asset accounting records. Provide support to record and maintain vehicle fleet assets, including asset additions, transfers, sales and disposals.  Identify, research and record new capital asset costs.  Properly record and document fixed asset record details.  Record asset and expense adjustments as required for proper recognition of costs.
  • Provide accounting support to maintain building leases to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of right-of-use assets and lease liabilities.
  • Complete accounting analysis to calculate and maintain the bad debt provision.
  • Prepare daily bank account reconciliations for various bank accounts and ensure bank activity is recorded timely and accurately.
  • Identify, research and resolve bank account reconciling items.
  • Complete accounting for the monthly billing, AR and cash activity for multiple new acquisitions.
  • Complete analysis of bank and credit card fees and review charges to ensure accuracy.
  • Record daily and month-end journal entries and complete general ledger account reconciliations. Responsible to approve and post journal entries prepared by the Accounting team.
  • Complete accounting tasks and special projects as required by management. Keep manager updated on tasks and projects.  Complete administrative support responsibilities.

Working Conditions;
This is a full-time position.  The Accountant I will report to an office.
Work Schedule: This job tends to have regular office hours but may have extended hours due to time-sensitive financial closing arrangements.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
