Job Description

Target Specialty Products is seeking a passionate, articulate, energetic person to work with the Turf Fuel Team in support of the Target Specialty Products Sales Team. Reporting to the Turf Fuel Business Director, the Technical Field Representative’s (TFR) primary responsibility will be supporting/educating sales staff and customers on Turf Fuel and TS Pro products with an overall objective of helping to increase product sales. This person will provide technical product and plant health related support to end users while communicating any feedback from the field to the Turf Fuel Team.
The majority of the TFR’s time will be spent working with sales reps and interacting with their customers and potential customers. The TFR may be asked to present Turf Fuel or TS Pro related information to groups of customers or potential customers. The TFR must posses a strong science background. A turfgrass science background is preferred however not mandatory. This position demands an organized self-starter with good interpersonal skills.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Establish professional, consultative relationships with sales representatives and their customers.
  • Provide technical support to sales representatives and customers / potential customers.
  • Responsible for working with TF Team and Regional Sales Managers to meet sales goals in specific geographies.
  • Support TF Team with specific, delegated tasks.
  • Attend University Field Days, conferences and industry trade shows as a representative of the Turf Fuel Team.
  • Provide weekly updates and feedback from the field to the Turf Fuel Team.
  • Proactively asses, clarify and validate sales team and customer needs.
  • Handle any possible product deficiency situation within specific geographies.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s of Science level degree in horticulture, plant physiology, soil science or other science focused study.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute on projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Sound decision making skills.
  • Desire and ability to travel via car and or airplane to support sales staff, and/or attend meetings and conferences (trade shows). Travel requirement is estimated to be between 25-35 weeks of the year.
  • Must be proficient with Google applications (docs, sheets, calendar, drive)
  • Must posses proficiency or willingness to learn Mac OS and business.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Golf course industry experience
  • Sales experience
  • Curiosity and interest in plant physiology
  • Chemistry background or basic understanding
